After the release of the highly successful 1995 EP "Let Your Body Die", CYBER-TEC PROJECT’s fan community was left thirsting for the LP for over two years. Time after time its release had to be postponed.
There’s hardly a band in the electronic music scene who can afford to leave a two years gap between the single and the LP. But that didn’t seem to bother anyone from CYBER-TEC PROJECT, because quality prevails, as we all know. CYBER-TEC’s fans haven’t forgotten them and the waiting was definitely worth it.
A number of things have changed. CYBER-TEC PROJECT are now called C-TEC and Marc HEAL (CUBANATE, ASHTRAYHEAD) took over from Jonathan SHARP as Jean-Luc DE MEYER (FRONT 242) and Ged DENTON’s (CRISIS) third man.
And now the time has finally come. They’re back and "Darker" is even better than its predecessor. No wonder, with none other than FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY’s Rhys FULBER co-producing. There was no resting on one’s laurels nor desperate attempts to stretch the "Let Your Body Die" EP into a full-length-CD. Instead, they integrated new styles to make "Darker" a multi-facetted masterpiece with Jean-Luc DE MEYER’s distinctive and very dominant voice, yet without the vocals driving out the music into the background or making it meaningless.
To name but a few, there’s "Flowing", a track in which Metal and Electro are perfectly paired, or "Stateless", a track which would probably set every Electro-purist’s face into painful contortions ...
