The legacy began with two critically acclaimed pieces of work, the first being a self titled EP in 1989 and the follow up in 1990 entitled Hell With The Lid Off. Mark GRIFFIN aka MC 900 FT JESUS, resident of Dallas, Texas took the name from a televangelist in Tulsa, Oklahoma who claimed a 900 FT Jesus came to him in a vision. The transformation of rap, industrial rhythms, scratching and jazz into a new breed of psycho hip-hop, not only challenged existing musical boundaries, but questioned the validity of a society gone mad.
Hailed in Europe as the "new rap messiah", "outta this world and quite wonderful" in North America he paved the ground work for a musical movement unlike any other. Heralding top twenty Billboard, CMJ, and retail charts along with two tours of North America and Europe, Mark GRIFFIN not only initiated but secured a place for MC 900 Ft Jesus amongst the visionaries of modern music.
Welcome To My Dream follows in the musical premise of MC's previous releases by once again making the rules and in a heartbeat breaking them. To categorize MC 900 FT JESUS is not an easy task. Welcome To My Dream offers a surreal journey into the dark, dingy corners of the mind with an up-front attitude that floats amongst the fusion of funk, hip hop, and a 60's jazz sound made memorable by Miles DAVIS & Teo MACERO.
