Short History, Discography & Links
At the beginning, Jimmy Joe SNARK and Chuck B. (a.k.a. Bubu) were supposed to send tapes directly from Big Sur (California) - where the original sixties socio-political activists are known to be originated from - and moved to France due to fiscal reasons ... Now, everybody knows (or must) that THE WEATHERMEN were Jean-Marc LEDERMAN (KID MONTANA, DIGITAL DANCE, ETHER and JULES ET JIM) and Bruce GEDULDIG (former member of TUXEDOMOON). "You do need THE WEATHERMEN to know which way the wind blows" THE WEATHERMEN emerged out of the mid- 80's "electronic body music" wave, creating a sub-category for themselves that never received a proper name. Combining beat driven melodies and sarcastic social commentary, THE WEATHERMEN burst out of their self-imposed anonymity onto the international music scene. But seeing Pamela Anderson's butt moving in rhythm with their music was going to be all too much for THE WEATHERMEN and if in the sixties Andy Warhol predicted that everybody would be famous for 15 minutes, the acceleration of time and the utter domination of the audiovisual media 30 years later reduced drastically that window of glory: THE WEATHERMEN decided that they had had their 15 frames of fame and disappeared from the scene. They were going to be missed. Mid-2002, a WEATHERMEN website was set up, in order to give fans the possibility to download all of now unavailable WEATHERMEN music. In a matter of months, 10.000 downloads were registered on the site. Bruce had been living in a winebango in the Mojave Desert in California, trying to escape from paying allemonies to Susanna Stammer. He had worked for several years as janitor at the Betty Ford Clinic, in Beverly Hills, Ca. and was Jean-Claude Van Damme's driver... Jimmy Joe Snark III worked with Austrian performance artist Gerhard Strudel, conceptor of the famous Big Strudel Act, Small Strudel Act, Medium Strudel Act and Venice's Biennale all time favorite 'One Last Strudel for The Road". Surprisingly enough, they bumped into each other late 2002, in an internet chat room. Bruce's nickname was Pink Shoe while Suzanna12458 was obviously Jimmy Joe's moniker. Pink Shoe was looking to sing in a country-western band while Suzanna12458 was a western-country band looking for a singer. They were very disappointed when they met at Chicago's Central Station, both wearing a blue coat and a copy of "Gardens And Flowers, the sequel" in the left hand. Beware of the internet, boys and girls, you never know who you're talking to. This is the result of their new work. The music was done in Jimmy Joe's home studio and sent via DSL to Bruce's winnebango in California. Comfy little motor he has. (Deeper Press release - 2004) |
